Frictionless linear drives, the secret behind the rapid and incredibly smooth motion of the Horizon 800 CMM, set new standards in design and innovation. The intrinsic heat density of this exceptional material has been fully utilised in the design of the granite table and granite Y-axis rail. The Y-axis linear drive system is positioned apart from the Y-axis linear encoder in order to allow the granite to absorb the heat produced by the linear drive without compromising metrology performance.

The Horizon 800 is an outstanding device with a first-term accuracy criterion of less than two microns and quick, silent, smooth motion that makes it perfect for touch scanning. Because they don’t have any worn parts and are non-contact, linear motors are the ideal option for CMM drives because they increase reliability and require less maintenance.
